This periodical functions to document public health problems and to advocate solution to those problems to both the medical community and to the general public. The first article is a reminiscence of Maggie Ellen King of her more than 30 years of service in the public health field. Many public health issues are discussed in Alabama's Health. Among those issues are: sanitation, communicable diseases, particularly influenza and tuberculosis, maternity and childbirth, birth control, infant mortality, dentistry, medical treatments, long term illnesses, the environment and pollution of all kinds, vital statistics, alcholism, controlled substances and their abuse, emergency medicine, food inspection, health care at hospitals, nursing homes, and other institutions, sexually transmitted diseases of all kinds, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, Alabama Medical Association, Alabama Public Health Association (ALPHA), and many others. Alabama's Health was published quarterly from 1967-1981. From 1981 it has been published monthly, except for a brief period in the Fall of 1982 when it was published bi-weekly.
